Welcome to the Sierra Nevada Section
The Sierra Nevada Section of the American Alpine Club is comprised of over 1,200 AAC members in Northern California and the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada. We have a long tradition of community and volunteerism that unites our members and welcomes all climbers. Sierra Nevada Section members regularly gather at events throughout the year to climb, help preserve our crags and mountains and socialize.
Annual Section events include our Climb-munity series of outings at Donner Summit (cragging), Tuolumne Meadows (cragging and mountaineering), and Coldstream Canyon/Lost Trail Lodge (ice climbing), the Pinecrest Climb-In hosted by Liz and Royal Robbins, the Fall High Ball in Bishop where we boulder and do conservation work, and our Annual Holiday Dinner (San Francisco Bay area). We also volunteer and help underwrite the annual Yosemite Facelift and other climbing events and initiatives in our area.
